Cycle Breaker Initiative

Who We Partner With

Different sectors. Shared behavioral challenges.

The vocabulary changes from one sector to the next. The underlying challenge does not: sustaining real change in the behavior of the people an institution depends on.

01What Organizations Are Trying to Solve

Different problems on the agenda. The same thing underneath.

Every sector names its challenge differently — retention, engagement, capacity, completion, consistency. Underneath, the question is usually the same one: how do we get people to reliably do something different from what they are doing now?

That is the work CBI exists to do. We are an educational training and organizational consulting firm with a social-impact mission — to transform lives and strengthen communities through education that breaks cycles and builds brighter futures. We pursue it inside organizations, because that is where behavior and outcomes meet.

02Universities

Universities & educational institutions

At the institutional level

Leadership development for department chairs, program directors, and staff stepping into supervisory roles. Staff engagement and retention. Culture that survives leadership turnover. Absorbing institutional change without losing the people carrying it out.

At the participant level

Leadership readiness for students who have never been given a framework for it. Identity development. Professional preparation that goes past the résumé. Transformational learning that outlasts the semester.

If it goes unaddressed

Accreditation cycles and enrollment pressure do not pause while leadership capacity is rebuilt, and turnover in student-facing roles is felt by students within a single semester.

How a partnership is designed to start

A university engagement is designed to begin with a single cohort or a staff professional-development day, structured to grow into licensed delivery once the institution wants to run the work itself.

03Financial Institutions

Financial institutions

At the institutional level

Building a leadership pipeline rather than filling roles reactively. Engagement and retention in branch and operations teams. Workforce development. Culture that holds through acquisition and restructure.

At the participant level

Financial wellness education that changes what customers actually do, not only what they are told. Community empowerment work that a bank can evidence to a regulator or a board.

If it goes unaddressed

Community commitments are delivered by people. Inconsistent frontline delivery can undermine the outcomes those commitments depend on, and community trust is slow to rebuild once it has been lost.

How a partnership is designed to start

Financial-institution engagements are designed to begin with a defined staff cohort or a community financial-capability series, with the evaluation plan agreed before the first session.

04Government

Government organizations

At the institutional level

Leadership development for supervisors who were promoted for technical competence. Engagement in teams carrying heavy caseloads. Capacity building that survives a change of administration.

At the participant level

Community-level behavior change that holds after the program ends, and outcomes an agency can report to the body that funded them.

If it goes unaddressed

Programs are funded on outcomes that have to outlast the funding. Capacity concentrated in one or two capable people leaves the moment they do.

How a partnership is designed to start

Government engagements are designed to begin with a scoped pilot inside one division, built so the agency can certify its own facilitators rather than re-procure each year.

05Community Organizations

Community organizations

At the institutional level

Staff development and leadership capacity in teams that are stretched thin. Program effectiveness. Scaling impact without diluting what made the work good.

At the participant level

Confidence, decision-making, stability, and growth for the people walking through your door — measured in what they do six months later, not in how the session felt.

If it goes unaddressed

Funders increasingly ask what changed rather than what was delivered. An organization that cannot evidence the difference competes badly for the next grant.

How a partnership is designed to start

Community engagements are designed to begin with a single cohort and a clear evaluation plan, so the results are usable in the next funding conversation.

06Also

And organizations that don't fit neatly into any of those.

We also partner with corporations and employers, workforce-development organizations, nonprofits, and family- and student-serving organizations. The framing changes. The work underneath it does not.

How the work is actually delivered

Not sure which of these you are?

Most organizations are more than one. Bring us the problem and we will work out the shape of it together.
